Your ticket covers the whole weekend, Friday evening to Saturday evening. That includes all your meals, plus snacks and drinks throughout, and a free place to sleep over on the Friday night if you want it (tick the box when booking, and bring a sleeping bag and a camping bed or inflatable mattress). The majority of people who attend are developers, however we welcome anyone who has a heart for helping and a desire to see technology advance the Kingdom. We often have a wide range of disciplines and experience at our events, UX/UI designers, product and project managers, marketeers and those passionate about technology.

Every project needs more than code, working out who the users are, how to reach them, what the thing is called and how it gets pitched at the end of the weekend.

Generally people stick to one project, but for non-developers and in particular designers it's not unusual to help with a couple of groups, for example on UI design and branding.

God brings the right people with the right heart and skills every year.

Teams are mixed, so you'll be working alongside people at every stage, from students to builders with decades behind them. Whatever your experience, you can learn a lot by building side by side for a weekend and seeing how other people approach a project.

Absolutely. BUILD is a UK-wide event and builders travel in from FaithTech communities right across the country. Lots of people come from outside London. You are welcome to sleep in the rooms provided (see Is overnight accommodation provided?) or use one of the nearby hotels (see Can you recommend any off-site accommodation?), and the Location page has the travel details.

You will get the most out of BUILD by being there for the whole event, hearing the pitches and joining a team from the start. However, sometimes people do need to leave early or join later.

We don't recommend just coming for only one of the days. If you come just for Friday you'll miss most of the actual building and seeing what everyone's made on Saturday. If you come just on Saturday you'll miss being able to pick a team and being part of a project from the start. It's harder to join an already started project.

BUILD is an in-person event, we don't have a formal way to attend remotely or stream any of the event. The Friday pitches, team forming, the build and the Saturday presentations all happen in the room, and project leads need to be there for the whole weekend.

Teams do sometimes bring people in remotely. Most spin up a channel on Slack, Discord or something similar and use video calls and chat. If someone has worked on the project before the weekend, or a colleague cannot travel, that's a good way for them to answer technical questions / help with the project.

Yes, if you are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

You get to choose. We'll provide a list of projects a few weeks before the event, and to help you there will be a chance to hear from and chat to the project leads on the first day (Friday). Team sizes vary, though most are around 4-6 people, and we want to make sure all projects are covered, so we kindly ask everyone to be flexible.

We get the appeal, and with AI where it is, a weekend of heads-down coding is tempting. You are welcome to work solo. Worth considering that BUILD is collaborative at heart, and we'd encourage you to join a team, the best of the weekend often happens meeting, learning, helping and building alongside others. AI is very welcome (see Can I use AI or a particular tool?), and our hope is that it helps teams get further in one weekend than they could have before.

Yes, use whichever tools you would like. You and your team can approach a project in whatever way you think is best.

At BUILD 2026, Breeze Translate gave every participant free access to their own AI model for the weekend, to help teams prototype, test and ship faster. Bringing an AI coding tool you already know, such as Cursor or a VS Code extension, is a good idea.

There are two awards, the people's choice, voted on by everyone who attends, and the judge's award, at BUILD 2026 chosen by David Gardner. Each team member receives a trophy for the award or awards their team wins.

Yes. Projects can come from charities, churches, ministries, kingdom-focused businesses, and individuals with an idea. If you have something you would like to work on with a team at BUILD, the Bring a project page has all the details.

Every submission is reviewed by the FaithTech team, and each project needs to serve a social good or missional need. Beyond that, we look for three things:

It's real. Something you or your organisation is actually working on, not a hypothetical.
It's clear. Scoped so that a team can make meaningful progress in a weekend. Broad ambitions are fine, but a clear starting point helps.
It has a life after the weekend. Someone will take the work forward once BUILD is over.

A project does not have to involve coding, though the majority of projects will. Research, design, strategy and process mapping all count, as long as there is a tech angle. If an idea is not quite the right shape yet, we work with the project lead to get it ready. Confirmed project leads usually have a call with one of the team before the event. Yes, you'll be well fed and watered. All meals are provided, along with snacks and soft drinks (including tea and coffee) throughout the weekend. If your dietary requirements have changed since you filled in your registration form, please let us know as soon as possible. It would really help us if you could bring a reusable cup. One more thing: we have a number of participants with nut allergies, so if you bring extra food along, please make sure it does not contain nuts.

Yes. We have set aside two basic shared rooms (male and female) with floor space to sleep on, free of charge. Please bring a sleeping bag and a camping bed or inflatable mattress. The rooms are shared and people come and go through the night, so an eye mask and earplugs are worth packing too. Showers are not available.

If you would rather have a proper bed there are nearby hotels.

If you plan to sleep on site, please tick the box to say so when you buy your ticket, so we can plan capacity.

Typically around a third of people tend to work overnight, but it's completely optional, and certainly not required or essential. Teams produce really fantastic work without working through the night.

If you are heading to your hotel or home on Friday, leave at whatever time works for you and your team. Most people head at around 10:30pm.

There are a range of hotels a short walk away. As it will be at night, we can offer to walk as a group to hotels at pre-agreed times. Options include Premier Inn, Travelodge, YotelPad and Snooze Box, plus other options in the area. A couple of nearby hotels also offer discount codes you can use when booking. At The Stratford, use code 2PL, and The Gantry can be booked through this link with the discount applied.

BUILD 2026 was at Here East on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a short walk from Stratford. The venue for the next BUILD is to be confirmed. The Location page has last year's travel details.

Yes, parking is available at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Multi-Storey car park, only a few minutes' walk from Here East.

At BUILD 2026 we had a limited number of free spaces, booked in advance with the team. We'll share parking details for the next BUILD once the venue is confirmed.

Anyone can attend. BUILD is about redemptive technology rooted in a biblical approach, and you are welcome whatever your background. Come as you are and build something that matters.

FaithTech is a global community of Christians working in and around technology, with local communities in cities around the world. Through gatherings, events and volunteer build teams, FaithTech connects faith and technology for the good of the world, redemptive tools that serve the church, reach people and care for those in need, all rooted in a biblical approach. Run previously by Kingdom Code, BUILD is now part of FaithTech, carried forward alongside the Kingdom Code team who are still very much involved. The heart of it has not changed: Christians in technology, serving Jesus.

The primary aim of BUILD is to give our time and skills to help charities and ministries. You'll of course meet people, and form friendships and connections, this is one of the wonderful things about the weekend! BUILD is not a place to sell, recruit or fundraise. If you and someone else both want that conversation, ideally have it in a break or afterwards. The afterparty is a good time for this too.

Yes. Everyone at BUILD, whether taking part, leading a project, volunteering, speaking or judging, is asked to follow our code of conduct. It covers what we expect, what is not acceptable, and what to do if something goes wrong. In summary, love one another.
